I’m trying to do 30 days straight of yoga at the moment because I’ve been really lax and lazy on those back stretches that my Orthopedist told me I should do, and now my back pain is coming back.
There’s this idea that if you do something for like 21 days in a row, it will become a habit. And that’s what I want. I know that I might not be able to keep it up during the colder winter months when I don’t want to leave bed, but I think that at that point, I might be able to convince myself to get up and go running, instead, if getting out of bed early does in fact turn into a habit for me. I want to run now, but I’m doing baby steps.
So I finally got a subscription to MyYogaWorks a while ago, and it’s going really well so far. Most of the lessons are enjoyable, although there will always be a few you can’t do, or some teachers you’re not a fan of. It happens.
Saturday was day 4 for me, and I’ve been able to make myself get out of bed to do it easily enough so far. It helps that some videos are only 20 – 30 minutes long. I can handle that amount of time, and I can usually do it before my husband wakes up. It gets me up, out and moving, and is a really nice way to start the day. And my back is feeling better already.
Sunday will be the acid test, though. I wake up earliest on Sundays (even though I have to leave the house by 6am on Monday, too). If I can do yoga before work, that would be great, but if I can’t, I’ll be home early enough in the evening to do some before bed. Let’s see how that goes.
